Okowa Appears Publicly Following EFCC Arrest Over Alleged N1.3tn Fraud

-

Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has made his first public appearance since his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on November 4, 2024, in connection with an alleged N1.3 trillion fraud. Okowa joined Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other dignitaries at a service of songs in Asaba to honor Mrs. Victoria Ossai Obielum, mother of Delta politician Godwill Obielum.

Following his release on bail on November 8, the EFCC confiscated Okowa’s passport as part of the ongoing investigation. The service was attended by Delta State’s PDP Chairman Solomon Arenyenka, party officials, and notable figures from the political and security sectors.

Pastor Ifeanyi Ogude delivered the sermon, emphasizing the importance of legacy and a life dedicated to serving God and others. Mrs. Obielum, who passed away at 87, will be buried on November 16, 2024, in Ushie, Ndokwa East Local Government Area.
