Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that the votes of Ondo State citizens are counted in Saturday’s gubernatorial election. Speaking on Wednesday while hosting the leadership of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Makinde urged INEC to conduct a fair election and emphasized that elections should not be treated as a “do-or-die affair.”
Makinde reiterated his commitment to fostering institutions that guarantee good governance and long-term growth, aiming for a legacy beyond infrastructure. Reflecting on his administration’s projects in Oyo, he stated that his goal is to build a system that endures, highlighting recent road reconstructions in Ibadan to address aging infrastructure.
He expressed his hopes for the Ondo election, advocating for the people’s choice to be respected, and for elections to reflect genuine democratic principles.
