Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Kano State, has urged Edo State governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, to direct his efforts towards implementing his election manifesto rather than engaging in conflicts with outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki.
During a thank-you visit from Okpebholo to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC in Abuja, Ganduje emphasized the importance of maintaining focus on governance and socio-economic development. He stated, “A progressive government does not have time for that. Focus on the manifesto you painstakingly produced. Follow it to the letter.”
Okpebholo, responding to Ganduje’s advice, noted that he has not yet received reports regarding allegations of treasury looting by Governor Obaseki or the supplementary budget he requested. He emphasized, “I have not seen any reports. By the time I see that, I will make a decision.”
Ganduje highlighted the need for Okpebholo to build bridges and establish good relationships with stakeholders, reminding him of his campaign promise to be an action governor. He expressed confidence in Okpebholo’s ability to succeed and improve the lives of the people in Edo State.
Moreover, Ganduje reassured Okpebholo that the APC is committed to supporting his administration, emphasizing the importance of functional party offices at all levels. He also announced the establishment of a progressive institute aimed at training personnel and addressing the needs of the Nigerian populace, ensuring that the party remains active and impactful throughout the year.
