Popular satirist and comedian Dan Bello Galadanci has publicly criticized Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, for neglecting critical sectors such as education and healthcare, accusing the governor of prioritizing personal projects over essential reforms.
In a series of viral TikTok videos, Galadanci alleged that while the governor flaunts his infrastructural achievements, the state’s schools and hospitals remain in deplorable conditions. He claimed that funds were diverted to finance non-essential projects, including the governor’s residence.
Galadanci, known for his bold satire, expressed frustration over the deteriorating state of education and healthcare, stating that these issues extend beyond Bauchi and affect the entire northern region of Nigeria. He declared a “war on corruption,” vowing to continue his campaign to challenge the neglect and mismanagement of resources in Northern Nigeria.
“The embezzlement is astonishing,” Galadanci said, after analyzing Bauchi State’s budget performance from 2021 to 2024. He highlighted that the construction cost of the governor’s mansion doubled from ₦6 billion to ₦13 billion, a sum that could have been used to renovate 1,000 classrooms.
Additionally, Galadanci presented visual evidence of dilapidated schools and hospitals across Bauchi, questioning the governor’s awareness of the numerous lives lost due to poor healthcare facilities.
However, the Bauchi Ministry of Education dismissed Galadanci’s claims, accusing him of spreading false information to gain attention. The state’s Commissioner of Education, Jamila Dahiru, labeled him “a liar trying to make a name for himself.”
In a statement, the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Jalaludeen Usman, defended the administration’s efforts, citing several initiatives aimed at improving the education sector. These include sponsoring WAEC, NECO, and JAMB registrations for over 14,000 students, the adoption of the National Girl Child Education Policy, and the construction of 21 new junior secondary schools under the World Bank-assisted AGILE project.
The Ministry further noted that Governor Mohammed had increased the budget allocation for education from 12% to 16%, the highest in recent years, and carried out extensive renovations and remodeling of 5,000 school facilities across the state.
Despite the government’s defense, Galadanci remains determined to hold the administration accountable, calling for urgent action to improve the lives of Bauchi residents through proper management of public resources.
