Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima declared on Thursday that Enugu State is revitalized under Governor Peter Mbah’s leadership, asserting that the time for politics has ended.
During his visit to Enugu, Shettima commissioned the Enugu State Garment and Fashion Hub and launched the 5th Expanded National Micro, Small, and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSME) Clinics. These initiatives are collaborative efforts between the Federal Government and Enugu State aimed at bolstering MSMEs in the region.
Shettima emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to collaborating with visionary leaders across party lines to advance the nation’s development. “Let us put politics aside. We are now in the phase of development. Politics is over,” he stated.
The Vice President lauded Governor Mbah’s numerous projects, particularly in security, water supply, and education. He highlighted Mbah’s investment in Smart Schools, predicting that such initiatives would lead to significant progress in the coming years. “The investment of Peter Mbah in Smart Schools will yield a bountiful harvest,” he remarked.
Shettima expressed his admiration for the advancements in Enugu, describing them as “avant-garde technology” and “state-of-the-art security infrastructure.” He noted, “If I say I was impressed by what I saw in Enugu, it is an understatement. I was overwhelmed by the giant strides recorded by Governor Mbah and his team.”
He pointed out that before Mbah’s emergence, Enugu was lacking basic amenities such as water supply. Shettima commended the governor for taking charge of the available opportunities, urging collaboration to elevate Enugu to its rightful status comparable to Kaduna and Ibadan.
The Vice President stressed that MSMEs are vital for economic growth and viewed the garment and fashion hub as a key component for expanding production capacity in the state. “This hub will serve as a stepping stone to the economic highways, providing an exchange in support of manufacturing in Enugu State,” he added.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, also praised the collaboration between the Federal Government and Enugu State in fostering MSMEs. He noted that the developments at the Enugu State Garment and Fashion Hub demonstrate the potential of Nigeria’s youth when given the right opportunities and environment.
