Toke Makinwa Reflects on a Fast-Paced 2024: A Year of Change and Controversy in Entertainment

Published

on

Toke Makinwa, the popular Nigerian media personality, recently took to Instagram to reflect on how quickly the year 2024 has flown by. Noting that only 92 days remain in the year, she expressed surprise at how fast time has passed.

In her post, Makinwa reminisced about the significant events that have unfolded within the entertainment industry this year. Among them were high-profile marriages, including Davido’s wedding to his long-time partner in June and actress Sharon Ooja’s marriage to her “Odogwu silencer.” That same month, a public fallout between singers Davido and Portable stirred up drama, with Portable accusing Zlatan of instigating their rift.

July saw Bobrisky take social media by storm after winning the best-dressed female category at a movie premiere, a victory that sparked widespread debates online. Later in August, nightclub PR specialist Yhemolee tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend, Thayour. Additionally, Bobrisky was released from a six-month prison term, adding another layer of intrigue to the year.

The Nollywood community experienced heartbreak with the loss of prominent actors, including Junior Pope, John Okafor, and Sisi Quadir. Meanwhile, activist Very Dark Man found himself in legal trouble twice this year—first for comments made about actress Tonto Dikeh, and later for accusations involving Bobrisky and alleged police corruption.

Other notable events included Sophia Momodu, Davido’s first baby mama, making headlines for a property dispute, and Priscilla Ojo going public with her relationship with Tanzanian singer Juma Jux.

With such a whirlwind of moments in 2024, Toke Makinwa’s reflection captures the fast-paced and eventful nature of the year, particularly in Nigeria’s entertainment scene.
