Napoli has significantly reduced Victor Osimhen’s release clause to €75 million, a decrease from the €130 million clause originally set in his contract.
The change comes as Osimhen, the Nigerian striker, prepares to join Galatasaray on a season-long loan. Despite his efforts, Osimhen was unable to secure a transfer away from Italy this summer.
The deal, as reported by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, involves Galatasaray covering Osimhen’s €9-10 million salary for the duration of the loan. Notably, there is no option or obligation for Galatasaray to purchase the player at the end of the loan period.
Romano confirmed on X, “Victor Osimhen to Galatasaray, here we go! Deal done and all documents have been approved. Osimhen’s release clause will be €75 million, with Napoli having the option to extend his contract until 2027. The loan move will last until June 2025, with his €9-10 million salary covered by Galatasaray. There is no buy option or obligation.”
This adjustment to the release clause could facilitate a smoother transition for Osimhen in the future, should he attract interest from other top clubs.
