Edo Guber: Group Urges Okpebholo, Ighodalo, Akpata to Take Upcoming Debate Seriously

-

The Edo Salvation Group (ESG) has urged voters and major political candidates in the upcoming September 21 governorship election in Edo State to treat the scheduled debate with the utmost seriousness. The group, in a statement issued on Friday, August 30, 2024, emphasized the importance of the debate, which is set to take place on September 15, 2024, as a critical platform for discussing the future of the state’s commonwealth.

Imman Ekpe, the national coordinator of ESG, stated that the debate would serve as a significant test, revealing which of the major candidates is best suited to lead Edo State over the next four years. The group commended the Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG) and the Edo State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists for organizing the debate, seeing it as a crucial opportunity for candidates to present their visions for the state.

“We believe that this debate, in whatever format it is presented, offers a vital platform for the candidates to articulate their visions for the state,” Ekpe said. He also called on the three major candidates—Senator Monday Okpebholo of the APC, Mr. Asue Ighodalo of the PDP, and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party—to fully engage in the debate and present compelling reasons why they should be elected to govern Edo State.
