Asisat Oshoala, the forward for Bay FC, is set to compete against her former club FC Barcelona for the first time since her move. The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club will host the Catalan giants in an international friendly on Tuesday, August 27, according to reports from The PUNCH.

Oshoala, 29, made the switch from Barcelona to Bay FC in February and is poised to reunite with her former teammates at PayPal Park in San Jose, where the match will take place.

Bay FC CEO Brady Stewart expressed excitement about the upcoming game, which falls between regular NWSL fixtures: “Bay FC is establishing itself as a global sports franchise rooted in the Bay Area. Both Bay FC and FC Barcelona share a commitment to the growth of women’s soccer locally and internationally.”

He also noted the high level of talent that will be on display, with World Cup Champions and national team players from various countries, urging fans to secure tickets early due to expected high demand.

Oshoala, who had a subdued showing in the recent Olympics with the Nigeria Super Falcons, is considered a legend at Barcelona. She netted 85 goals in 101 appearances between 2019 and 2024.

The six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year amassed an impressive trophy haul with Barcelona, including four Primera División titles, three UEFA Women’s Champions League titles, four Supercopa de España Femenina, three Copa de la Reina trophies, and one Copa Catalunya title. She also emerged as the Primera División top scorer in the 2021/22 season with 20 goals.

Since joining Bay FC, the former Liverpool and Arsenal striker has continued to make her mark, scoring the club’s first goal in their 1–0 victory against Angel City during her NWSL debut.
