Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, abruptly halted an event yesterday that was organized in the name of her ministry without her approval.
The minister accused the event organizers of impersonation and expressed strong disapproval of their actions.
The event, which was hosted by Mela-Chiyoma PAT Limited, focused on the role of women in achieving food security. However, Minister Kennedy-Ohanenye, upon learning that the event was held without her consent, intervened and addressed the participants directly.
In a video shared by The ICIR on X (formerly Twitter), the minister can be seen informing attendees that the organizers had been apprehended. She stated, “The organizer has been arrested. She should have used her own name for the invitations and the event, not the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs.”
Kennedy-Ohanenye made it clear that she would not allow the program to continue, calling the situation “pure impersonation” and noting that the President was displeased with the unauthorized use of the ministry’s name.
“I can’t permit this event to proceed. This is a serious case of impersonation, and the President is not happy about it. Let the media cover this; you don’t misuse the ministry’s name like this,” she declared.
